Oil’s Plunge Is Good News For Stocks
Last week must have been hard to stomach for oil bulls. Crude oil prices took it on the chin towards the end of the week.
In fact, crude oil closed below $ 100 a barrel for the first time since February – dropping all the way below $ 98.

U.S. GDP Data was worse than expected (2.2% vs 2.6% expected & prior 3%). There’s nothing good about this data unless you believe spring weather caught up with a warm winter. Is that the spin? Perhaps. Others might just return to the previous mantra from the past few years: “bad news is good, good news is better” cynically meaning the Fed will launch another round of QE. It’s the belief by bulls that no matter the data the Fed has your back until its QE effect exhausts itself. Nevertheless the weaker GDP data confirms what we’re seeing globally–economic contraction.

Apple (AAPL) might disappoint on Mac sales in next week’s earnings call according to Gene Munster an analyst at Piper Jaffray. Munster says that based on data from NPD we can expect that Mac sales in the first quarter will be 5% higher than the year before Apple Insider reports. Apple-watchers are expecting a 14% increase. The analyst chalks this up to the fact that Apple hasn’t made any major changes to the Mac lineup in over a year. This means that would-be buyers are merely waiting to avoid the risk of obsolescence as All Things D’s Walt Mossberg advises
