NBA, Players Reach Tentative Deal

NEW YORK (TheStreet) — The NBA and its players have reached a tentative agreement that would end their drawn-out labor dispute.

In a news conference held around 4 a.m. EDT Saturday morning, David Stern, the NBA commissioner, said both sides were optimistic an abbreviated basketball season would begin on Christmas Day with a triple-header.

Billy Hunter, who had been the head of the players’ union, said lawyers still need to work out details of the agreement, but he added, “We are happy that we have been able to resolve and reach a tentative litigation settlement with regards to many issues that are pending for the various courts.”
